Mindfulness. It’s a growing and more mainstream practice than ever before. It’s being introduced in schools and businesses all over the western world with seemingly positive results.
But what do mindfulness and meditation do for you really…and why are they so powerful? They have been practiced for hundreds of years in many cultures with no scientific evidence of their benefits, but now we know more (and the skeptics may need some hard evidence).
We are still uncovering some of the science, but we know more now than we did even 40 years ago when Jon Kabat-Zinn introduced mindfulness to patients at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center to try to combat an array of ailments including chronic stress.
