Mindful Self-Compassion / The Importance of Being Kind to Yourself
Time & Location
About The Event
We all understand the importance of having friendships. We may have even read how healthy relationships, in general, can boost our immune system and offer us longer lives in some cases.
However, there are many benefits (and a surprising amount of happiness) to be found in befriending yourself. Life becomes less stressful when you stop being your own worst critic and start supporting yourself as you would a good friend. We will discuss the research that Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer have done in this area and how you can move towards being more understanding and patient with yourself.
*Spoiler alert* - Self-kindness and self-compassion are not selfish or narcissistic acts. :)
Join Kim Douglass, a certified Mindfulness, Meditation and MBSR instructor, as she explores how to greet yourself more often in a positive way. It's not an overnight process, but it can be done over time (even if this is an entirely new concept for you)!
No previous mindfulness or meditation knowledge necessary.
Tea and snacks will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing.
I hope to see you there! --Kim
