About The Event

Dear potential participant, 

I don't need to tell you that life can be overwhelming. We all have different situations and circumstances in our lives that cause stress, but the effects on the body and the brain are the same. How do you handle your stress, and might it be worth exploring another approach? 

Jon Kabat-Zinn created the "Stress Reduction Clinic" (now called MBSR) 40 years ago for the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, and it's helped thousands of people worldwide incorporate mindfulness and meditation into their lives. 

Meditation and mindfulness have been proven to reduce the stress responses we are all vulnerable to, help to make us aware of habitual and unhealthy behavioral patterns, and get us in touch with our inner wisdom. This is a secular (non-religious) course. 

Join Kim Douglass, a certified MBSR instructor, as she guides you through the first four weeks of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program. The program includes 10 hours of class time. You will continue to use your workbook and guided meditations for your home practice from part 1 of this class*.  The price for this course is only for part two (4 weeks).

Wednesday, March 11:  Mindfulness of Emotions / 6:30-9:00 pm

Wednesday, March 18:  Cultivating Compassion / 6:30-9:00 pm

Wednesday, March 25:  A Mindful Life / 6:30-9:00 pm

This is part two of a two-part course. You must have completed part one to participate in this course. 

*Participants MUST be able to set aside a MINIMUM of 30 minutes per day 6 days a week while taking the course for meditation practice. This is on an honor system, of course, but this will only strengthen your understanding of the material. This course is experiential (meaning you must experience meditation in order for it to have any effect).
